View Gallery

Konstantina Valera graduated from the Fine Arts Department of the University of Florina. She uses sharp touches and bright colors in order to express her feelings and create a strong personal style, evident in her works. The main focus of her art has been social life, and she paints to express her artistic impulses.

By bringing the past together with the present and imprinting her own anxiety, she expertly conveys her own point of view. Her unique technique in combining expressionism with bright colors, allows her to express her feelings with sensitivity and respect. Focusing on expression, she uses thin, irregular brush strokes in different shapes, which allow her to break down forms in a cohesive set of shapes. Her way of impressing feelings upon faces is remarkable.

Her works are narrative, they converse with readers-viewers by provoking non-standard readings.

Looking at Konstantina Valera’s paintings, viewers can easily make out her heroes, shapes that converse with time and communicate with the present. With the power of her paintings she illustrates a future that is anything but dark. Rather, a future as bright as her colors.

For the first time, Konstantina presents her proposal in Greece, a book titled “Tracing”, written in four languages (Greek, English, French and German). It’s a multidimensional work that seamlessly combines the artist’s painting with her poetry and video art with artists’ recitations. This novel book has integrated technology which allows readers to experience the poems both visually and aurally through barcodes that correspond to video art.

Konstantina is currently working on her second visual collection, as well as her fourth painting exhibition. Through her work she attempts to introduce us to a world of spiritual search, that of man constantly fighting with himself. Painting and poetry are more than words and images in her mind, they convey meaning, understanding and expression, a way of thought and perception, a way of life.

Right in front of us are works filled with all these elements.
