Anna Angelopoulou: “Art for me is the pursuit of beauty”
Anna Angelopoulou is a blend of talent, compositional perception, aesthetics, knowledge, and experience in transforming and renewing furniture, sometimes by changing its color and fabric, and also by artistically intervening with her brushes. She has the power to transform anything she touches. Old, beloved furniture and lighting fixtures regain their “lost glory”, she gives them a new youthfulness and builds bridges of harmony between the old and the new. A woman with boundless positive energy and optimism, giving, adoring animals, and protecting them in every way. Her three cats, Markos, Evita, and Carolina are members of her family. “Your animals give you their love and expect very little from you. My relationship with them brings out the best in me,” she explains. A graduate of the French School Jeanne D’Arc in Piraeus, she grew up in an urban family. “From childhood, the way I was raised, I have learned to appreciate quality and harmony in space. So in my work, I attach importance to quality, and this gives me the greatest satisfaction,” she tells us.
I ask her why we love objects that have a “past.” With her spontaneous personality, she replies: “It’s the stories and memories that hide behind these objects that give them value. I believe that through this work, we give a second life to these objects. They require love to be understood. It’s Art that I offer to my clients, and Art is the pursuit for beauty. The furniture may have dulled over time or may not fit the evolving taste of its owner. My work is to restore the lost glory of the objects and create a new aesthetic in the space.. Many clients are interested in learning how furniture restoration can transform their existing pieces, especially when it comes to specialized finishes such as painting, patina, or gilding. We are trusted by individuals who appreciate the expertise and attention to detail that we provide in every furniture restoration project, whether large or small. I already have the final image of things in my mind from the moment I first see a piece of furniture or space. Immediately, the idea arises in me of how I could change everything to highlight it, to make it better, fresher!”
She has watched how the two most important furniture industries in the world, Grange and Ferrand, located in France, work and has been trained in creating unique objects. Now she is preparing to go to Switzerland to attend a digital seminar on three-dimensional virtual reality furniture. She draws inspiration by traveling all over the world, getting to know new places and different cultures. Deeply influenced by the culture and aesthetics of the French Riviera, she dreams of one day moving to the picturesque Saint Paul De Vence, one of the old villages of medieval France, and spending the rest of her life there, in a place full of colorful objects and stone houses.
“Do what you have to do, but what is meant to happen, will happen.”
