The avant premiere of the documentary “The Woman Behind Elgin” at the Acropolis Museum

The avant-premiere of the docudrama “The Woman Behind Elgin”, directed by Mimi Denissi and produced by LUMAD, was successfully held at the Acropolis Museum, in an atmosphere of emotion and strong interest from leading figures of the political, academic, and artistic world.

 The event highlighted the significance of the work in relation to the issue of the return of the Parthenon Sculptures, featuring speeches by the President of the Hellenic Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, and the Director of the Acropolis Museum, Nikos Stambolidis.

Mimi Denissi spoke about the extensive years of research and the rare historical material used, as well as the need to present the story of the theft of the Sculptures through a different, lesser-known perspective: that of Mary Nisbet, wife of Lord Elgin.
