Archaeological sites and monuments in Mykonos
Mykonos is not only famous for holidays and entertainment. Discoveries have been made here that has aroused the interest of many researchers.
Archaeological Museum
In Angelika, an impressive discovery was made of a Mycenaean chamber tomb dating to the late 15th century BC. All burial objects, gold jewelry, many vessels from prehistoric times, tomb statues, urns, jewelry of the 2nd century BC, and the Pithos, a large archaic amphora, are on display.
Aegean Maritime Museum
Greek naval history is on display here. It is housed in a traditional Cycladic building of the 19th century, in the center of Mykonos, in “Tria Pigadia”. You will see ship models from antiquity to the early 20th century, rare maps, ancient objects, nautical instruments, and tools, as well as coins with nautical themes.
Folklore Museum of Mykonos
It houses collections of antique furniture, Byzantine icons, ceramics, old souvenir plates, a collection of embroidery and woven products, as well as a wonderful collection of ship models.
