ANTHEA – Plants, Blossoms, Transformations
Katja Nagel – Exhibition ANTHEA at Hydra / April 1-30, 2026
ANTHEA, named after Antheia, the Greek goddess of flowers and spring, is dedicated to the plant world of Greek mythology. As one of the Horae, Antheia embodies blossoming, growth, and renewal – central motifs of the series.
Flowers and trees appear here as bearers of mythical memories: Narcissus, hyacinth, myrrh, and the rose of Aphrodite are not depicted botanically, but rather as symbols of transformation and transience.
ANTHEA is a poetic homage to the cycle of growth and decay, as well as to the creative power of nature as the origin of cultural imagination.
Just as AEGEO is dedicated to water and GAIA to the earth, ANTHEA represents the plant world and expands the artistic cosmos with another mythological chapter.
