Sonia Theodoridou
Sonia Theodoridou spends her life between Athens, Germany, Italy and Israel. Our international soprano was born in Veria and studied at the National Conservatory “Manolis Kalomiris”, from where she graduated with the award for “Excellent and Distinguished Performance.”
The “Maria Callas” scholarship led her to higher studies at the Cologne Academy of Music and later in London with Vera Rosza. She has performed in the most important lyric theaters in Europe, such as the Frankfurt Opera, Berlin State Opera, Berlin German Opera, Hamburg State Opera, the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, the Théâtre Chatelet in Paris, the Théâtre Chatelet in Paris Venice, the Theater of Basel, the Opera of Lyon and Montpellier, the Athens and Thessaloniki Concert Hall, the Theater of Herodes Atticus, the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus, the Ancient Theater of Delphi, almost all over the world.
In 2010 she co-founded Orchestra Mobile with Maestro Theodoros Orfanidis, and a year later the recording company Human Voice. In 2014 she raised the issue for the return of the Parthenon Marbles again, when she entered the British Museum in London in order to make a silent protest, gaining the support of the world’s art community.
Her life is a great adventure and she savors it with the same passion of a girl who dares for the first time. She devotes herself with love to whatever she undertakes, she doesn’t lose her faith in people, cultivates her high ideals and fights with the bravery of a warrior for justice and good.
Sonia Theodoridou teaches us that art requires perseverance and talent and inspires to do what our heart deems right – because we will be judged anyway.
