Virginie Viard blends Classic Hollywood elegance with Chanel’s timeless tradition, in Los Angeles.

“One night only” was the message of Chanel’s billboards across the city. The Resort 2024 fashion show was held at Paramount Studios and was a cinematic extravaganza celebrating the House’s deep connections to Hollywood.

Coco Chanel first visited California nearly a century ago, around 1931. The story began in Monte Carlo in the summer of 1930 when, through Duke Dimitri Pavlovich, she met Samuel Goldwyn, owner of MGM Studios.

Shortly thereafter, she arrived in Los Angeles, where she met Greta Garbo. She subsequently met Marlene Dietrich, with whom she became friends, Gloria Swanson, Erich von Stroheim, George Cukor, Claudette Colbert, and many other actors who were eager to meet her.

Karl Lagerfeld continued this legacy, forging strong ties with actors and celebrities, establishing Chanel as a dominant presence on the red carpet.
