Danae Varangis
Danae, just 27 years old today, has already started a successful entrepreneurial path. Daughter of Christina and Dimitris Varangis, she is the fifth generation of a business story that begins in 1900 and signs “by the hand of Varangis”. Born in Athens in 1993, she moved to London at the age of 18 to study media. She worked for Condé Nast and set up her own project at the age of 23 conducting a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds.
That’s how she founded DV Closet, an app that that “connects” users directly with fashion stylists. Its not just about shopping for clothes, you can talk and that has therapeutic effect. Depending in which country you’re in you can access different stylists. Some say the success takes time, but in the case of Danae, everything happened quickly. The idea was to make women feel strong, to bring out the best in themselves because fashion is a form of expression. She succeeded.
Now the next big bet is “Varangis”, the family business that makes handmade furniture, which focused on large construction projects abroad, during the financial crisis. With Danae’s potential and her father’s guidance, the plan is to revive the historical brand and attract a new generation that will love it. Methodical, stubborn, committed and focused to her goal, she says that every day she learns and discovers something new and feels ready and strong.
Danae Varangis gives her own inspiring life message: Everything is possible, as long as you believe in yourself, smile and have positive energy.”
