Athena Martinou, one of the most powerful and iconic figures in Greek shipping, passed away yesterday, October 11, 2024, at the age of 97. As the founder of Thenamaris Ships Management, Martinou developed one of the largest fleets globally, significantly contributing to her family’s establishment in the international maritime industry. Beyond her professional achievements, she was known for her discreet yet impactful philanthropic work, delivering important projects to the Greek society. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 14, in a private family ceremony at the Church of Panagia Faneromeni in Vouliagmeni.
