Sports Robotics – The Gateway to the 4th Industrial Revolution

Sports robotics has arrived much quicker than we expected, becoming the hub of athletics and the driving force of education for the 4th industrial revolution.

By the President of HRSF (Hellenic Robotic Sports Federation) Emmanouil Tselepis.

Sports robotics are a subset of scientific athletics that place academic knowledge at their core, offering a new sport befitting of the present, evolving society. By nurturing technological sports, the sports community has an additional purpose: the creation of new MetaSports athletic standards to cultivate champions who use a robot as an invention and as a means of acquiring skills and demonstrating their abilities.

Why Sports Robotics
It’s time for knowledge to enter the arena and for new sporting standards to be established for the benefit of society and the young. This is a logical evolution, similar to how the development of our industrial period led us to regard racing drivers as athletes (despite that they don’t run on foot and use a machine). This is understandable since, in none of our well-known sports, the medium object, such as the ball, the boat, or the automobile, is rewarded, instead, we reward human skills in handling them. Therefore, the new generation faces the technological revolution era with robot competitions as a new sport.

Robotics competitions
Robotics competitions draw inspiration from, follow, and adhere to regulations similar to well-known sports, but at the same time, they are governed by specific predefined rules, such as the size and weight of their creations. Additionally, there are specialized sports like autonomous drones, swarms, or hybrids like robotic triathlons, and so on.

Robotics competitions develop an athlete’s cognitive abilities, judgment, perception, and reflexes while serving as a means of relaxation and entertainment.

25th Olympiad of Sports Robotics and Technology

In the modern era, learning has reached another level, one that is not at all different from the Olympic motto “Faster, Higher, Stronger.” In our plan, the primary step is the organization of the 1st IRO Olympiad on European soil, followed immediately by the first regional competitions that will culminate in a National Robotics Championship.

The goal is to form the official Greek National Team each year, representing our country internationally and participating in the IRO Olympics and other global events showcasing our nation.

Who is who

The Hellenic Robotic Sports Federation (HRSF) represents the new Technology Sports (T-Sports) MetaSPORTS. It was legally established in 2023 in Serres, Greece, with the support of “Panserraikos,” “Proteas,” and other significant sports clubs. It is the first sports federation in Europe that officially united more than 23 organized sports clubs when it was founded. The President of HRSF, Emmanouil Tselepis, is a visionary of the value of Robotics primarily in compulsory education. The establishment of the Federation came as a continuation and a necessity for better organizing the “New Sports,” aiming to secure a place for science, knowledge, and education in the modern sports community.

The goals and vision of HRSF

  • Our primary goal is for the International Robotics Olympics (25th IROC) to be successfully hosted in Greece.
  • To expand the Federation for the representation and promotion of robotics sports.
  • To establish institutional support from Greece for robotic athletes.
